MoMa, NYC 5.5.11 – On this day, my friend Cey Adams invited me up to MoMa on W53 for a signing he was doing. Cey was an old school graff writer in NYC back in the day. He’s done creative work for the likes of the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Notorious B.I.G, Diddy, Public Enemy and Jay-z.
The signing was outside in the courtyard. There was a long line in front of Cey for his autograph. He finally took a break and we stepped over to the center of the courtyard to the small foot bridge of sorts that connected both sides of the courtyard over the water feature. In the middle of it all was Ad Rock playing DJ and entertaining the crowd. Cey introduced us, we spoke for a few minutes, then snapped a few pics. It felt good to meet one of my favorite mc’s from my childhood…one that help to define what hip hop would eventually become [until it’s demise at the end of the 90’s].
