Pier A, Hoboken, NJ 8.1.12 – On this steamy night in Hoboken, NJ, over 15,000 rabid Mumford and Sons fans gathered on Pier A for what was to be a very special show. This was the largest crowd to date on the pier. The stage was set up on the end of the pier set against a backdrop of the illuminated New York City skyline.
The band hit the stage with high energy as Marcus Mumford greeted the screaming crowd mentioning that was their first time playing in NJ. They quietly opened the set with “Lovers Eyes” and eventually built their set up quickly to a fever pitch.
Next up was one of the band’s biggest hits, “Little Lion Man”. The raucous crowd was singing every word.
More banter from the band ensued before getting into “Roll Away Your Stone”.
The fourth song of the night was a new tune called “I Will Wait” off their sophomore album entitled “Babel” due out next month.
Hard to believe how quickly this newish band is rising in popularity. While formed in 2007, they only started playing small club gigs since 2008 in support of their EP “Love Your Ground” then later followed by their first LP “Sigh No More” released in 2009. Big things are on the horizon for these folk rockers.
