Napa Valley Expo, Napa, CA. – Here’s a few shots from Janes Addiction’s set on Day 4 of the inaugural BottleRock Music Festival.

Dave Navarro’s amps…
Janes Addiction is quite possibly one of my favorite bands to see and shoot. They never disappoint; always bring such high energy.
This show was special for a bunch of reasons. It was probably the only time I’ve seen them perform in the daylight [and maybe the first Lollapalooza]. Most of the time I see/shoot them, it’s usually in a small venue. They notoriously have dark, uneven, shitty lighting…mixed in with a bunch of smoke. They don’t make it easy for you to shoot! On this day, natural light [aside from the 10’+ high main stage they were on].
Perry was in rare form from the get-go. He was fucked up. He said he had already had his fair share of weed and wine already. Usually he hits the wine 1/3 of the way into the show. Not today! He was more chatty with the crowd then usual. He was slurring his words. Actually, the first few sings IMHO sounded like shit. As the set went on, the music [and the banter/rants] got way better. Dave Navarro is such a monster on guitar; shifting gears from laid back to a whirling dervish. Chaney and Perkins are a solid backbone to the band.
The weather was absolutely perfect. They crowd was diggin every song the band played [setlists don’t vary too much with them these days]. Perfect time to get a beer and rock out from/with the crowd.
Definitely one of my personal highlights from the festival.
Please stay tuned as I’ll be posting up more full sets from some of the bands I shot at BottleRock in the near future.
