Roseland Ballroom, NYC May 22, 2012 – I purposely double booked my self as 2 major bands were in town. Jack White was playing at Roseland in West Midtown and Slash was playing downtown in the East Village. Both were doing live broadcasts of some sort and were schedule to go live at different times. I knew if I was to pull this off, everyone needed to stick to their set times and I would literally be cutting it close. Alabama Shakes was to open up for Jack White. Set times were set as this was to be broadcast live on Sirius XM. As we got closer to show time, they changed the set times three times more…thus jeopardizing part 2 of the night…More about the Slash show here. Needless to say I barely pulled the night off.
Jack White stopped through NYC for 2 nights at Roseland Ballroom in support of his new cd entitled “Blunderbuss”. This album is amazing and one of my favorite releases by anyone this year by far.
White is the consumate musician. He oozes confidence and charm as he twists lyrics and cuts through to you with his guitar play. He’s very talented and multi-instrumental. This goes a long way in the music business as he’s fronted and assembled 3 commercially successful bands as well as his own record label.
On his current solo tour, White is touring with two bands… An all-female band called The Peacocks, and the other is an all-male band called Los Buzzardos. The night before, White brought out his all-male band. The night I was there, he was backed by his all-female band. They tore through a nice mixture of new tunes, as well as classics from The White Stripes, Dead Weather and The Raconteurs.
For the finale, Jack White, The Peacocks and Los Buzzardos all emerged from the bleachers to rock out the four song encore.
