Americas Cup Pavilion, San Francisco, CA. – New American Indie rockers Imagine Dragons stopped into San Francisco to play the first show at the brand new outdoor America’s Cup Pavilion. The band is still currently on tour in support of 2012’s release entitled “Night Visions”.
Check out my review in photos…
This was my first time to this beautiful new outdoor venue/amphitheater. The venue capacity is at around 9,000 and located right on Pier 27 on the water. Great sound. Beautiful surroundings.
The stage at the venue is about 7′ tall and cluttered with obstructions. If you are familiar with these guys, you know that there is a huge drum set up in the front center of the stage. The lead singer, Dan Reynolds comes out with plenty of energy and the lighting tries to match that. As per usual for these guys, the lights were a mixture of dark, hot and backlit. Sprinkle in a narrow photo pit with all the other photogs and security and lateral movement to shoot becomes limited. If the stage wasn’t cluttered with so much crap adorning the front, it wouldn’t be so bad as the lead singer moves about the stage and works both sides equally.
This was my second time shooting this band. You can see that photo set here.
