When I heard about this conference I had ZERO interest in anything or anyone there except for Iggy Pop. He’s someone that really intrigues me and that I’ve always wanted to shoot. The whole process from beginning to end was an emotional rollercoaster. When I submitted, I told them I was only coming down for Iggy’s set. I got my approval. When I get there, I’m told I wasn’t approved for him only the festival and all our credentials were checked. After a brief wait, we ultimately got that straightened out and we were all served a release to sign and a set of instructions for shooting Iggy in the pit. The front of the pit needs to be clear. The photogs were split and assigned into 2 groups; each one to shoot from either stage left or stage right depending on what side you were given. We only got to shoot the first 2 songs as opposed to the customary first 3 songs. We anxiously await Iggy to take the stage and our credentials are checked once again and more instructions are given. We’re told to not crowd Iggy if he comes to the stage before you. Be forewarned. Iggy finally takes stage is is in rare form…spinning, dancing and flailing all over the stage. He promptly took his stance front and center stage; singing and pointing out to the crowd. It wasn’t before long that Iggy looks over in my direction and spits at one of the photographers.

Shortly thereafter, Iggy looks at me and flips me off.
