The Greek Theater, Berkeley, CA. – American punk rockers Green Day returned back to their hometown of Berkeley, CA to play a show at the Greek Theater. The band is on the road in support of their latest 3 releases entitled “Uno”, “Dos”, Tré”.
Check out my review in photos…
This was my first time to this beautiful outdoor venue/amphitheater. The venue has been around since the early 1900’s. The design of the theater is based directly on the ancient Greek theater of Epidaurus. Simply amazing. Great sound. Beautiful surroundings.
The stage at the venue is about 7′ tall. Perhaps this is why at the last minute we were moved to the soundboard. Straight back. Dead center. No lateral movement.
The show started while it was still daylight so the lights were a mixture of daylight and a shit load of back lighting.
The band came out with plenty of energy. They were stoked to be back playing in their hometown where it all began for them back in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
During song 2 of their set, they usually bring out a young kid from the crowd to which the kid stage dives back into the crowd. On this night I think Billy Joe brought up his 17 year old nephew on his birthday.
Looking foward to next time I get the chance to shoot them from a photo pit proper.
