Irving Plaza, NYC 5.6.12 – Las Vegas’ own, Escape The Fate, stopped through NYC at Irving Plaza earlier this month on their “This World Is Ours” tour. These post-hardcore rockers have been on a tear since they formed in 2004. Lineup changes and record label departures seem to be the norm for these guys. Lead singer Craig Mabbit joined the band in 2008. One cool point of note is that the 2 guitarists in the band are brothers. Bryan “Monte” Money was an official member since the band’s inception while Michael Money was a touring guitarist who used to play behind the stage curtain during shows back in 08. Exit a few old members and now he’s an official part of the band.
ETF hit the stage with a fever-pitch. There was no shortage of energy from these guys. Craig sings with such command. All the guitarists constantly moved about the stage switching positions while giving their young fans an earful. The drummer could barely remain seated throughout the show as he bang his kit…which was on the highest riser I’ve ever seen on a stage that small.
The hot, sweaty, packed house was singing and reacting to every word sung. There was lots of interplay between band members. At one point Craig was shoving his mic in the guitarists faces to sing along. All in all a great effort from these guys.
As for the lights…typically inconsistant as always here. Just gotta make due with what you’re given.
