Best Buy Theater, NYC 12.27.11 – I’ve always heard so much about the Disco Biscuits over the years so I finally decided to check them out and see what the hype is all about. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…i HATE going to Times Square for ANYTHING…but this was a paying gig so I had to deal with it. Picked up my ticket and pass and headed downstairs. The place was filling up fast. I headed in to the photo pit and I’m the only one in there. Cool…more room for me. I notice a female artist setting up and easel on the left side of the stage in front of the keyboards for some live painting during the show. A few more photogs finally show up and the young crowd is getting restless.
On to the show…I gotta say that they had some good energy and some killer lights. I can’t really offer up more then that. Just not my type of music much less my scene. It was told to us that they would permit and encourage us to shoot the entire show/lights. With that being said, I shot my alotted 3 songs from the pit and headed for a different vantage point to shoot. This was by far no easy task as the multi-level theater was packed to the hilt. I could barely squeeze through the crowd with all my gear. This wasn’t going to be easy…
I tried to get up into VIP as it’s the highest point for some full band shots…to no avail. Snapped a few from the steps leading from the floor to the next level but was getting knocked around too much. Made another attempt at VIP from the other side and got nowhere. Couldnt get into the stadium seating in the back of the venue. Everyone was buggin’ out…Time to go!
