Napa Valley Expo, Napa, CA. – Southern rockers…The Black Crowes keep movin’ on down the line on their “Lay Down With Number 13” tour making a stop in wine country.
Check out my review in photos…
So I find myself shooting the inaugural BotteRock Music Festival in Napa, CA this past weekend with a great line-up of artists. One of which is my favorite band, The Black Crowes. They tore up the stage and had the crowd cheering at every turn on this windy road they took us down. The jams were tight and precise. Chris sounded great. The band had a nice energy to them. The weather was perfect.
The main stage was quite high as we shot the first two songs from the photo pit. On the front edge of the stage were light bars that extended up about 9″ or 10″ making it that much harder to shoot. Oh yeah, plenty of camera men to dodge and shoot around too.
Earlier in the day, I managed to get a last minute pass to shoot songs 3-5 from the side of the stage. For most other bands, this would have yielded better shots. The Crowes have limited side stage access so I was only able to shoot a few shots from behind them. I uploaded a few so you can see a few different vantage points from onstage. After the 5th song, camera away and I rocked out from the back of the stage. For a long time fan like myself, it was pretty cool to get to enjoy a Crowes show from a different perspective.
Thanks again to The Black Crowes Mgmt. and Road Crew for the hospitality!
