Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY April 18, 2012 – When news broke that DC punk rockers, Bad Brains was coming back to town after all these years, I was as stoked as can be. Bad brains, to this day, still remains one of my all-time favorite bands to listen to. I remember seeing them back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Seeing them rock on 20+ years later gave me chills. HR [Human Rights] has slowed down quite a bit but he can still bring those vocals. The band’s classic and current lineup is singer H.R. (Human Rights), guitarist Dr. Know, bassist Darryl Jenifer, and drummer Earl Hudson, H.R.’s younger brother. Bad Brains are also in the studio working on a new album slated for release sometime later this year.
From the first note as the band took the stage, the crowd opened up a mosh pit the circumference of the entire GA floor. They frenzied and flailed about as the music worked them up. Bad Brains pulled out all the stops and tore into their set with reckless abandon. Classic hit after hit very reminiscent of the old days…right on down to people rushing the stage for a quick stage dive back into the crowd.
All in all a great show. I really needed that. I often caught myself groovin’ to the music more then being a photographer there to do a job.
